Serving the Timber Cove District
The Timber Cove Fire Department protects the unique and geographically complex district encompassing a 17-mile stretch of Highway 1 along the beautiful northern Sonoma Coast and extending east into the heavily forested coastal ridges and hills.
While supported by a small paid staff, our department remains overwhelmingly volunteer-based, powered by neighbors committed to the safety of their community and familiar with the local terrain. This knowledge and commitment is how we successfully respond despite the difficult navigation and remote access in this Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).
We provide all-hazards emergency response for a wide range of incidents, including fire, medical aid, vehicle accidents, and technical ropes rescue.
District Size: 48 square miles, extending from the Pacific Ocean to the Gualala River, covering diverse coastal and inland terrain.
Population Served: Approximately 400 residents and up to one million visitors annually.
